Joanne Pollow, age 82 of Ransomville, died Wednesday March 29, 2017 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, after a brief illness. Joanne was born September 23, 1934 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Lillian (Rivers) Smith. She graduated from Niagara Falls High School in June of 1952 and the following August 1, she married Harold "Ike" Pollow and they moved to Ransomville. Ike predeceased her in 2007. Joanne was employed by Carborundum Co. in Niagara Falls, NY for 30 years, retiring as a Production Supervisor in 1988. She enjoyed crafts, knitting, and baking but especially loved quilting and being with her friends. She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Perry) Cucci of Oshawa, Ontario, Judith "Jud" (Donald) Braun of Newfane, and Patti (Kenneth) Sauvageau of Middleport, NY; her chosen daughter, Michele (Charles) White of Lake Port , MI; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; two brothers, Walter (Mary Lynn) and David (Sebbie) Smith; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Lawrence and Alvin Smith; a sister, Patricia Sabourin; and a grandson, Ervin Seefeldt. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Sunday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 3, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Hoffman Officiating. Burial will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd., Town of Cambria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ransomville Vol. Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, PO Box 239, Ransomville, NY 14131, or to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, Heart Gifts Processing Center, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.
