Janice Previte

Janice L. Previte, age 55 of Lewiston NY, died Wednesday September 19, 2018 at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo after a six-month battle with Leukemia. Janice was born February 1, 1963 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of Peter “Butch” and Ann (Tower) Johnston of Youngstown. She was a 1981 graduate of Lewiston-Porter High School where she was a defender on the record setting inaugural girls soccer team of 1979 that won back to back league championships in ’79 and ‘80. Janice received an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Science Lab Technology from Niagara County Community College in 1983 and received her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Buffalo State University. Janice began her career with SCA in Youngstown. She then worked at TAM Ceramics/Ferro Electronics in Niagara Falls for 19 years. Since 2006 she has been employed by Life Technologies/Thermo Fisher Scientific in Grand Island, NY where she was a Senior Associate Production Planner. Janice was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown. Prior to that she taught and ran the Sunday School program at the Niagara Falls Christian Fellowship Church. A real “sports mom” Jan could always be heard cheering loudly from the sidelines for all players, not just her own. She enjoyed finding the time for reading, gardening, cooking and her pets, but most of all she had a deep and unconditional love for her two children. In addition to her parents, Butch and Ann, she is survived by her husband, Frank J. Previte III; her children, Alicia and Frank J. Previte IV; her siblings, Daryl (Diane) Johnston, JoAnn (Dave) Allender, and Derek (Carole) Johnston; and thirteen nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Saturday, September 22nd at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, 100 Church Street, Youngstown, with the Rev. Dr. Rex Stewart officiating.
