Harold Seward Shippy, a lifelong resident of Youngstown, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025, under the compassionate care of the Niagara Hospice House. He was born on January 19, 1938, to the late Seward and Marion (nee Bradley) Shippy.
A proud graduate of Lewiston Porter High School, class of 1956, Harold married the love of his life, the former Nancy Lucas, on April 23, 1960, in Youngstown, NY. Together they shared 61 beautiful years of marriage until Nancy's passing.
Harold dedicated his career as a steam fitter for Local Union 22, retiring in 1997. He was an avid sports enthusiast, with a particular passion for golf. His love for sports earned him induction into the Lew-Port Sports Hall of Fame in 2008 and the Greater Niagara Falls Sports Hall of Fame in 2009.
He is predeceased by his parents and his beloved wife. He is survived by his loving children, Peter (Charlotte) Shippy of Boston, MA, Jillyan (Jack) Degan of Buffalo, NY, and Timothy Shippy of Youngstown, NY. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Seamus, Bridget (Nicholas), Beatrix, and Stella; his caring siblings, Neil (Betty) Shippy and Daniel (Myong) Shippy; sisters-in-law, Becky, Judy, and Susan Lucas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hardison Funeral Homes, Inc., 401 Ridge Street, Lewiston, NY. Per Harold's request, services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
