Gordon J. Knapp

April 24, 1937 — January 25, 2025

Ransomville

Gordon J. Knapp passed away peacefully, surrounded by his beloved family, on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Buffalo General Hospital. Born on April 24, 1937, in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the cherished son of the late Reginald R. and Anna Mae (nee Kennedy) Knapp.

A graduate of Trott Vocational in Niagara Falls, Gordon married the love of his life, Jane M. Greaser, on May 6, 1961, at St. Theresa's Church, Niagara Falls. Together, they celebrated 63 years of marriage. Gordon served his apprenticeship with WS Johnson Building Company, and worked as a Union Carpenter with Local Union 280 in Lockport, NY. He co-owned Knapp & Colosi Building Company, home builders in Niagara County, and served as a Business Agent for Local 280 in Lockport and Executive Secretary/Treasurer of the WNY Regional Council of Carpenters. May Gordon's legacy of love, craftsmanship, and family devotion continue to inspire all who knew him.

Gordon most enjoyed spending time with his family, and was a great storyteller. He took pride in building his own home, his beloved cabin in Chautauqua and had a hand in the construction of his kid’s homes. His remarkable carpentry skills allowed him to craft unique items for his wife and kids. Gordon was a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan. He enjoyed car shows in his 1936 Chevy, “Miss Plum,” and casino trips with family and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Marty Tilkins, and brother-in-law Robert Williams, Gordon is survived by his devoted wife, Jane; his loving children, David (Lori) Knapp, Sharyl (Joseph) Daul, Krista Carvalho, Mary Lynn Tilkins, Jennifer (Lynnette Sherwood) Knapp, and Nicole (Bryan) Mackey; his cherished grandchildren, Marissa (John), Joanie, Patrick, Alexandra, Shaun, Justin, Matthew, Michael, and his pumpkin, Miles; and his adored great-granddaughter, Audrey Jane “AJ.” He is also survived by his dear siblings, Janice Williams and Robert (Janice) Knapp, as well as nieces and nephews.
