Gloria Anne Donovan, a cherished resident of the Village of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, under the loving care of her children and Niagara Hospice. She was 93 years old.

Born on May 14, 1931, in Niagara Falls, NY, Gloria was the beloved daughter of the late Clarence and Nellie (nee Sherman) Brandon. A proud member of the Niagara Falls High School Class of 1949, she graduated with fond memories and lifelong friends. On September 9, 1950, Gloria married John Edward "Red" Donovan at Sacred Heart Church. They enjoyed 48 wonderful years together until John’s passing on May 13, 1999.

From 1961 to 1986, Gloria worked diligently as a court clerk for the Town of Lewiston under Justice Sebastian Lombardi. Upon retirement, she and John embraced their love for travel, exploring the United States and spending many cherished winters in Houston, TX, with their daughter and family. Gloria’s devotion to her family was unparalleled. A loving mother and grandmother, she found immense joy in her home and family. In her leisure time, she indulged in quilting, cross-stitching, knitting and crocheting.

Gloria played an active role in all of her Class of 1949 reunions, serving as chairperson and co-treasurer, and was a vibrant member of the 49er’s, a group of graduates who met monthly for lunch.

A dedicated member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and its Rosary Society, and later of St. Peter’s RC Church, Gloria’s faith was an integral part of her life.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Gloria was predeceased by her loving son, Michael Timothy Donovan, her adored great-grandson, Brendon Lee, and her caring sister, Carol Brandon.

Gloria is survived by her loving children, John Mark Donovan, Sandra (Dan) Skurski, Robin Smith, Mary Beth (Glenn) McColpin, and Laura (Rich) Atkin; her cherished grandchildren, Rachel, Ryan, Courtney, Christopher, John Michael, Connor, Andrea, and Meghan; and her adored great-grandchildren, Jacob, Tyler, Justice, Max, Cooper, and Brady.
