George Mason, Jr.

George R. Mason, Jr., age 84 , a lifelong resident of North Buffalo and Amherst, died Tuesday June 28, 2011 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Residence in Lewiston, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Mason was born October 18, 1926 in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late George R., Sr. and Elizabeth (King)Mason and was a 1944 graduate of Bennett High School. Since the age of 19, Mr. Mason owned and operated Mason & Sons Appliance Repair from his residence, retiring in 2001.On August 27, 1949 he married Ruth C. (Bethmann) Mason who predeceased him in 1984. Mr. Mason was a lifelong and active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Eggerstville as well as a lifelong member of North Park Lutheran Church in Buffalo. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and fisherman. He is survived by a son, Rev. Thomas (Tillie) Mason of Lewiston; a daughter, Kathleen (Michael) Sullivan of Oswego, NY; his grandchildren, Benjamin (Sarah) Sullivan, Colleen (Ronald) Near, Patrick Sullivan, Timothy Sullivan, Nicole (Kyle) Faulkner, and Ashely Mason; a great granddaughter, Kyla Near; and a sister, June (Robert) Thompson of Webster, NY. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 1, at 11:00 AM in St. Paul's Lutheran Church,4007 Main St., Eggertsville, with the Rev. Charles Biegner officiating. Friends may call at the Church from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Acacia Park Cemetery, Town of Pendleton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston.
