Eugene “Gene” Pacia, age 90, of Youngstown died peacefully on Monday, February 6th, 2023, at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Eugene was born on June 16th, 1932, in Niagara Falls, NY. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Genevieve "Jenny" Fogel and parents Valentine and Mary (Sciera) Pacia.
Gene was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School, going on to receive his bachelors and masters degrees in education from Niagara University. He served in the U.S Army from 1952 to 1954. Gene was employed by Lew-port CSD as a math teacher for 26 years.
Gene was very active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Bernards RC Church and a reader at Our Lady of Fatima Shrine. He was an avid walker with his walking group, enjoyed traveling extensively, and was a weather spotter for the National Weather Service for 36 years. He made many trips since 1958 with family and friends to Pacia's Paradise and Pines in Haliburton, Ontario, Canada.
He is survived by two sons: Stephen Pacia of Youngstown and Thomas (Cynthia) Pacia of Rochester, his brother, Erwin (Joan) Pacia; his grandchildren, Ryan, Eve, Erek, and Gillian; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday, February 10th from 2-7 PM. at Hardison Funeral Homes Inc., 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, NY.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM. on Saturday, February 11th at St. Bernard's RC Church, Hinman & Second, Youngstown, NY. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
