Dorothy D. Holmes, age 91 formerly of Lewiston, passed away Saturday June 26, 2010 in the Newfane Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Newfane, while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Dorothy was born November 26, 1918 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late William and Hilda (Fuller) Dutton. She lived most of her life in Lewiston and was a 1936 graduate of the Red Brick Schoolhouse in Lewiston. Dorothy married Maurice D. Holmes on June 18, 1938. Maurice predeceased her on June 23, 1987. Dorothy worked for a number of years at Spirella and at Montgomery Ward's in Niagara Falls. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston and a member of its' choir for 60 years. She is survived by her daughter, Judith (Joseph) McDougall of Sanborn; a brother, Robert F. Dutton of Florida; her grandchildren, Rev. Darren (Sharon) MacDougall, Bonnie Jean (Michael) Simpson, Amy (David) Smith, Penny Holmes, Holly (Jim) Sullivan, and Robert Holmes; 10 great grandchildren and one great great grandson; and a daughter in law, Arlene Holmes of Cheektowaga. She was predeceased by a son, David Holmes; a brother, Albert Dutton; a sister, Margaret Skinner; a granddaughter, Jennifer Holmes, and a great grandchild, Skye MacDougall. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston on Saturday, July 3, from 10:00 am to 12 noon. Funeral Services will begin at Noon in the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Bellingham officiating. Burial will follow in Dickersonville Cemetery, Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Lockport Presbyterian Home Activity Fund, 327 High St., Lockport, NY 14094 or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
