David H. Hanson, 87 of Lewiston, NY died at his residence, Friday March 3, 2017. Born in Kewnee, IL on November 25, 1929 to the late Henning and Mary (Chambers) Hanson. After graduating Kewanee High School, David enlisted in the U.S Air Force in June 1949 untill his honorable discharge in December 1952 with the rank of airman first class. During this time he married Nancy L. (Simonds) Hanson on July 7, 1951 and has been a resident of Lewiston since that time, Nancy passed away on August 3, 2015. He worked for the Lewiston Post Office as the parcel postal carrier and the for Bell Aerospace for 15 years retiring as an inspector. Dave and Nancy enjoyed traveling in the U.S and Europe but mostly enjoyed being surrounded by his family. Dave was a true family man. He is survived by 4 children; Jean (Dan) Stopa; Peter Hanson; Thomas (Lori) Hanson; Tricia (Mark) Labosky; a brother, Fred (Janice) Hanson; a daughter in-law Karen Hanson, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews also survived. He was predeceased by a son, James Hanson, a granddaughter Heather Stopa and a sister Dixie Starke. Friends may call at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOME N. Fourth and Ridge Sts. Lewiston on WEDNESDAY from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held on THURSDAY (March 9) at 10:00 AM from St. Peter’s RC Church 600 Center St. Lewiston with Msg. David LiPuma officiating(Please assemble at the church) Entombment will follow with military honors at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
