Vera Mae Crowell, age 96 of Youngstown NY, died Sunday September 18, 2016 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Vera was born September 11, 1920 in Axtel, TX, the daughter of the late Charles and Thecla (Kramer) Weissinger and was raised in New Jersey. She graduated from Teaneck High School in 1936 at age 16 and worked on Wall Street until 1940 when she married Harry C. Crowell. They were married for 55 years until his passing in 1995. Vera worked at Bendix Corp. in Teterboro, NJ from 1943 to 1946. In 1956 she went to work for Medical Economics in Oradell, NJ as an Editorial Assistant, retiring in 1975. In her retirement Vera spent the winters in Florida and most of the summer on Upper Saranac Lake, NY. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of The Messiah in Lewiston. Vera loved to crochet and do needlework, as well as tend to her beautiful gardens. Her family will always remember her as "tiny but very spunky". She is survived by her daughters, Judy (Walter) Fuller of Youngstown, NY and Lorraine (Peter) Pierce of Concord, NH; her grandchildren, David T. (Cheryl) Hina, Tara Lynn (Peter) Cassidy, Noelle Lohr, Jennifer (Richard) Whitlow, and Kristin (Jon) Claire. Also survived by twelve great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517,Topeka, Kansas 66675.
