Theresa “Terry” Scrufari, 89, of Lewiston, New York, passed on February 4, 2022, at home. Born on January 16, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley MacAfee and Anne Marie (Madden) MacAfee.
Theresa was a past chairperson of the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center’s Charity Ball and a member of the hospital’s Women’s Auxiliary. She was a member of the St. Francis Guild of Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital and a past co-chairperson of the Niagara University Ball and a longtime member of the Niagara Falls Country Club.
In her earlier years, Theresa enjoyed, and was accomplished in, bowling, tennis, and golf. She was a lifelong bridge player obtaining the rank of Life Master certified by the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL). She was an excellent cook, gracious host, world traveler and an avid reader who will be remembered for her generosity, kindness, and great sense of humor.
Theresa was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, the late Bruno A. Scrufari whom she married April 7, 1960. She was also predeceased by three brothers, John W. MacAfee, Thomas MacAfee and Joseph Patrick MacAfee, Ph.D.
Theresa is survived by her two sons, Charles O. “Chuck” (Elisa) Scrufari and Bruno A. “Brandy” (Lisa) Scrufari, III. A sister, Mary Ann Belknap of Bend, Oregon along with several nieces and nephews and the light of her life, her grandson, Bruno Antonio Scrufari.
In addition to her family, Theresa will be missed by her many friends across Western New York, Southern Ontario and Naples, Florida. Contributions in her memory may be made to HART (Home Assistance Referral Team, Inc.), Community Missions of Niagara Frontier, Inc., or the Niagara County SPCA.
