Richard Pedley

Richard "Dick" N. Pedley, age 90 of Wilson, died Tuesday December 29, 2009 in Buffalo General Hospital after a brief illness. Richard was born November 2, 1919 in the Town of Lewiston, the son of the late Elmer and Nina (Crane) Pedley. He lived most of his life on his family farm on Langdon Rd. before moving to Wilson in 1992. Richard was a WW II Army veteran. For 29 years he was a Heavy Equipment Operator for Kimberly Clark Co. in Niagara Falls. He then served as a Security Guard at Nitec Corp. in Niagara Falls for 5 years retiring in 1976. Besides playing local Semi-Pro Baseball in the 1940's and 1950's, Richard managed the Wilson Town Baseball Team in the 1950's. He was an Exempt Member of the Ransomville Volunteer Fire Co. and a former member of the American Legion O. Leo Curtiss Post #830 in Ransomville. He was avid "OTB" horse better, bingo player and NY Yankee fan, as well as enjoying hunting and fishing. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris E. (Maacks) Pedley on March 24, 1996. He is survived by a son, Jerry R. (Marilyn) Pedley of Lewiston; two grandchildren, Sally Flanagan and Scott Pedley; and two great grandchildren, Megan and Jack Flanagan. He was also predeceased by a brother, LaMont "Sy" Pedley. Graveside Services at North Ridge Cemetery, Town of Cambria, will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no prior visitation. Memorials may be made to the Ransomville Vol. Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, PO Box 239, Ransomville, NY 14131. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston.
