Mary A. Gillespie, age 74 of Lewiston, died Saturday April 11, 2015 in the Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, after a lengthy illness. Mary was born June 10, 1940 in Quebec, Canada, the daughter of the late Absalon and Rita Gignac and has resided in Lewiston the past 50 years. She was a waitress for many years and retired from Vince's Lewiston Restaurant. She was previously employed at the "Yankee Girl" and "Buena Vista" restaurants. On December 1, 1991 she married Peter J. Gillespie. Peter predeceased her on May 24, 2011. Mary loved spending time with her family and her two dogs, Megan and Mandi. She is survived by four daughters, Maryanne (Kevin) Nasca, Kathy Stevens, Mary Ann (Michael) Martindale, and Donna McGilley; her grandchildren, Carol Anne Thurnherr, Julie Nasca, Sandra (Loren)Marks, Nicole Lowe, Christopher Martindale, Kalli and Brandon McGilley; a brother, George (Yvonne) Gignac; a sister, Giselle Perkins; a sister in law, Valerie Gignac; a brother In law, Gerry Schneider; her dear friend, Jane Kusmierz and several great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, David and Hubert "Bob" Gignac; and a sister, Eva Schneider. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Wednesday, April 15, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. A Memorial Service will begin at 7:00 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
