Mark H. Johnston, 53, Oakdale CT, passed on to the Lord at Yale New Haven Hospital on June 14, 2012. Born on August 3, 1958 in Lockport NY, he was the beloved son of Rita A. (Lamaspi) Johnston and the late Calvin H. Johnston of Odessa FL. Mark was a graduate of Ledyard High School in Ledyard CT, Thames Valley Technical College in Norwich CT and Northeastern University in Boston majoring in Chemical Engineering. He was a Principal Engineer in Research and Development of non-metallic materials at General Dynamics/Electric Boat in Groton CT for 27 years. Mark is survived by his mother, a brother Michael C. (Roxanne) Johnston of Concord NC; a niece Amanda (Mark) Gulino of Red Bank NJ; a nephew James (Dawn) Ralston of North Haven CT, best friends Steven Job and Joan Mabesoone of Willington CT; One aunt, Gloria Slyster of Odessa FL; and many cousins. Mark was predeceased by his grandparents Ella Steadman of Cambria and Harold Johnston of Ransomville, Mario and Ernestine Lamaspi; and an aunt Barbara Magliarditi of Niagara Falls. Mark enjoyed music, sports and was an avid Oakland Raiders fan. He also had a passion for vintage motorcycles. The family will be present to receive friends at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Wednesday, June 20th, from 9:30 to 10:30 am. A mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at St. Bernard's RC Church, Hinman and Second St. Youngstown, with the Rev. Msgr. Thomas Moran officiating. Interment will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd. Town of Cambria.
