Laura Frey of Lewiston NY passed away peacefully at 97 years of age with family by her side October 2023.
Laura was born in the New York City area, graduated high school from Rosemary Hall, and received a BA in English Literature from Elmira College. A lifelong learner, she earned additional certifications in Family Dynamics and Christian Education and Administration. She was actively associated for over 20 years with the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, including service on numerous committees, as Deacon, Elder, and for 14 years as Director of Christian Education and Administrative Assistant to the Pastor. She was especially passionate about the community outreach of the church, and was personally active as a volunteer, serving on the Education Committee of WNY, the Advisory Board of a local Presbyterian Home, and the Board of Directors for the Martha H. Beeman Foundation Children’s Clinic. She was a member of Tatler, Monday Club, and several book clubs. Laura enjoyed long walks with friends, was an avid gardener, and loved to read, especially about horticulture and anthropology.
Laura was preceded in death by her husbands Nicholas I. Ardan, Jr. and George W. Frey, Jr. She is survived by her sister Sarah; 5 children: Nicholas III, Catherine, Karen, Barbara, and Laura; stepdaughters Deborah and Lisa; 13 grandchildren: Bryan, Debora, Jessica, Pedro, Matthew, Nathan, Megan, Kathryn, Garrett, Logan, Lydia, Rebecca, and Peter; 9 great grandchildren: Brayden, Luna, Clark, Aiden, Owen, Kiara, Sol, Juan, and Luca; and 4 nieces and nephews: John, David, Celia, and Christopher.
