Franklin J. Herman, Sr. (Bud), age 76, of the town of Branchport, NY, passed peacefully Monday, April 29, 2024. Bud was born May 26, 1947, in Buffalo, NY. He is the son of Franklin J. Herman, Sr. and Ruth Herman (Kistner), both deceased. He was married for almost 55 years to his beloved wife, Candice Herman (Kane).
Bud was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy and is a Vietnam War Veteran. Bud worked for 30 years at General Motors Powertrain in Tonawanda. He had a zest for life and enjoyed being everyone's friend. Bud enjoyed horses, golf, traveling, boating and his beloved Keuka Lake where he and is wife, Candy resided. He enjoyed time with their many friends from the area and most of all time with his family. His family included his very beloved dog, Jake.
Loved by his wife, Candice Herman (Kane); his son, Michael Herman and daughter, Michelle (Rodney) Freatman. Bud thought of Rodney (Rod) Freatman as a son. Grandchildren, Dominik (Nik) Freatman, David (predeceased) Freatman, and Great Granddaughter, Aurora Freatman. Siblings are Patricia (Robert) Dudish, Sally (Jack) Hunter (both predeceased), Geraldine (James) Wnuk, Williams (Sally) Herman, Thomas (Sue) Herman, and John (Sheri) Herman. He also had many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd. Ransomville on Saturday, May 4, at 11:00 am with Rev. Kim Smith officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd. Town of Cambria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital, St. Jude's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
