Donald Brown

Donald J. Brown, age 75 of Ransomville NY, died Friday September 28, 2012 at his residence under the loving care of his family. Don was born January 7, 1937 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of Edith (Shred) Brown Lemery of St. Catharine's Ontario and the late Eugene Brown. A Korean and Vietnam War Veteran, he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1954 and served his country honorably for the next 20 years. His specialty was in aircraft maintenance and he retired as a Master Sgt. in 1974 and settled in Ransomville with his wife, Lola A. (Mountain) Brown whom he married on April 2, 1960. Don then worked at Pfeiffer Foods in its Maintenance Dept. for three years. In 1977 he went to work as a Millwright at Coated Abrasive Division of Carborundum Co. and retired from there in 1999. He was a member of American Legion O. Leo Curtiss Post # 830 in Ransomville, and the Air Force Sergeant Association. Don was a former member of the Masons F&AM. While stationed in Hawaii he was a Cub Master for the Boy Scouts of America for 4 years. Don enjoyed his family, woodworking, hunting and the outdoors In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, Donald J. (Stacey) Brown, Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY; a daughter, Pamela (Todd) Serianni of Ransomville; his grandchildren, Donald "DJ" J. Brown, III, Amanda, Ashley, and Nicholas Serianni, Jason Brown, Steven and Marc Guthrie, and Kristy (Percival) Moore; a great granddaughter, Amirah; two brothers, Allen (Betty) Brown of Fairfield, CA and Richard (Rae) Brown of Westchester, VA; a daughter in law, Debbie Guthrie of Niagara Falls, NY; two brothers in law, Hank Mountain and Chuck (Jeanne) Mountain; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Keith Brown; a brother, Russell Brown; a sister, Ena Trusello, and his half sister Beverly Deering. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 6, at 11:00 am in the funeral home, with the Rev. John Timmerman officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd., Town of Cambria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
