Carl D. Woolson, age 77, formerly of Ransomville, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Rochester on Saturday, May 26, 2012. Carl was born June 24, 1934 in Wilson, NY, the son of the late Donald and Gladys (Schultz) Woolson. He served his country honorably for 20 years, first as a member of the U.S. Naval Reserves for 4 years and then for 16 years in the U.S. Army. Carl served two tours of active duty in Vietnam, was stationed in Okinawa for 3 years and in France for 5 years. After his retirement from the Army , he was employed at the Chevy Powertrain Plant in Tonawanda and at the Caterpillar Co. in Rochester. Carl was a member of the original Ransomville "Slopokes" stock car racers. He was predeceased by his wife, Laura (Garlock) Woolson who died in 2008. He is survived by his sisters, Marjorie Smith of Ransomville and Edna Rider of Lockport; his brothers, Robert (Pat) Woolson of Ransomville, Glenn (Shirley) Woolson of Casper, WY, and James (Carol) Woolson of Tonawanda; as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Monday, June 4, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 8 PM. Funeral Services with Military Honors will begin at 8:00 PM in the funeral home, with the Rev. James Bastian officiating. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
