Betty L. Maines, age 87 of Lewiston and formerly longtime resident of Wilson, died Tuesday January 13, 2015 in the Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport. Betty was born December 5, 1927 in Altoona, PA, the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary Elizabeth (Heisler) Edevane. She married Marvin W. Maines on June 24, 1950 and they lived in Wilson for 48 years before moving to Lewiston in 2005. Betty was employed as a bus driver and cafeteria worker by the Wilson Central School District for 28 years. She retired in 1993 as the Head Cook from the Stevenson Elementary School in Ransomville. Betty was a member of the Ransomville Free Methodist Church. She crocheted afghans, mittens, and scarves, and she loved music. Betty always had the last word with her family, "love you more". She is survived by her husband of 641/2 years, Marvin; her children, Betty Lou (Kenny) Cooke, Marvin "Dennis" Maines (Della), and Glenda Maines (John Dean); her grandchildren, Rachael, Aaron, Kyle, Emily, Julie (Isaac), Dennis (Kristen), and Drew (Shannon); her great grandchildren, Levi, Hannah, Samuel, and Griffin; her sister in law, Winifred Edevane and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Willis E. Edevane. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 17, at 11:00 AM in the Ransomville Free Methodist Church, 3924 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville with the Rev. William Lowery and the Rev. Ronald Maines officiating. Burial will follow in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ransomville Free Methodist Church.
