Andrew V. Nowak, age 52 formerly of Lewiston, died unexpectedly from natural causes on Tuesday March 9, at his home in Cottersville, MI. Andrew was born March 20, 1957 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of Andrew H. and Janet (Sullivan) Nowak of Lewiston. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and graduated from Bishop Duffy High School. Andrew enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1976 and served until 1980 when he was honorably discharged as a Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class. He then spent the last 30 years as a member of the Seafarer's International Union working for the American Steamship Company. He is survived by his parents, Andrew & Janet (Sullivan) Nowak of Lewiston; his siblings, Diane (Joseph) Ipolitto of Grand Island, Linda Hardison of Lewiston, Vincent Nowak of Amarillo, TX, Sean (Erin) Nowak of Manteno, IL, Martin Nowak of Lewiston, and Kathryn "Katie" (Kip) Cawley of Pittsburgh, PA. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Prayer Service will be held Saturday, March 20, at 11:00 AM in the HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston, with the Rev. Robert Hughson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston. Flowers are gratefully declined.
