Lorraine C. Beach, age 92 of the Town of Cambria, died Monday January 23, 2017 in the Odd Fellow & Rebekah Health Facility in Lockport, after a brief illness. Lorraine was born August 19, 1924 in Colon, Panama, the daughter of the late LeRoy and Clara (Langhoop) Hoagland. She grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from Brooklyn High School. A U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II, she enlisted in March of 1944 and served until her honorable discharge in March of 1946 with the rank of Yeoman Third Class. She was the recipient of the American Theatre Medal and the WW II Victory Medal. On March 2, 1946 she married Allen C. Beach whose family where among the first settlers in the Town of Cambria. Lorraine assisted Allen in the running of the Beach Family Farm, and going to the Buffalo Market with their produce and straw flowers. Allen predeceased her on May 13, 2000. Lorraine loved the opera and attended it frequently while living in New York. She also enjoyed embroidery and was a 4-H leader for many years. She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Jim) Charbonneau of Lockport; a sister, June Letzin of Rochester, NY; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two daughters, Sandra Gehrman and Susan Flynn; a son, Jeffrey Beach, and a sister, Eleanor Harrington. Services are private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville.
