Obituary of Ingeborg E. Praus

Ingeborg E. Praus, age 88 of Lewiston, died Thursday December 15, 2016 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a brief illness. Ingeborg was born February 18, 1928 in Germany, the daughter of the late Friedrich and Irma (Weiler) Meerwarth. She married Joseph R. Praus in September of 1948 and they moved to Pletcher Rd. in Youngstown in 1959. Joseph predeceased her in 1985 and Ingeborg moved to Lewiston seven years ago. She graduated from Trott Vocational High School as a LPN and received her RN and Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Niagara University as well as her Master's Degree in Psychology and Social Work. Ingeborg was employed as RN by Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She was an Instructor of Nursing at Niagara County Community College and retired from Occidental Chemical Co. on Grand Island after 15 years of service. Ingeborg was an avid reader, a lover of nature, and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her friends. She is survived by her children, Michelle Nordenholt of Plano, TX, Matthew (Patricia) Praus of Hamburg, NY, and Friedrich "Fritz" (Debbie) Praus of Shelby, MI; her grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris) Crawford, Elizabeth and Rebecca Nordenholt.; and a brother, Friedbald (Rita) Meerwarth of Lauf, Germany. She was predeceased by a sister, Ursula Tabery also of Germany. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Tuesday from 3 - 7 PM. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 21, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with the Rev. Jordon Miller Stubbendick officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Rural Cemetery, Youngstown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
