Obituary of Barbara S. Moll

Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Barbara S. Moll, age 92, had an unshakable faith in the promises of Jesus and peacefully went to be with the Lord in her Lewiston home on July 29, 2015 with her loving granddaughter, Laura Thomason, at her side. Barbara was born February 8, 1923 in Niagara Falls, NY the daughter of Paul and Pauline (Dick) Stratiff. Memories of her childhood on 57th Street were enjoyable to her and she liked to recall playing with her friends outside in the street until the streetlights came on in the summertime. Barbara attended LaSalle High School and went on to graduate from Syracuse University where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She worked as a draftsman at E.I. Dupont in Niagara Falls where she met Wallace V. Moll. She and Wallace were married on September 19, 1945. Soon after they were married, they purchased property on the Escarpment in Lewiston were they designed and built their home. It was there that they raised four children, Deborah, Sara, Bud and Andrew. Barbara was active as a hospital aid at Niagara Memorial Hospital for many years when her children were young. She was instrumental in the forming of the Escarpment Lutheran Church on Bronson Drive in Lewiston in the early 1960's where she was an active member. She held the unofficial title of CFO for her husband's business. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Youngstown NY until she became ill. After extensive pleasure travel around the world, she and Wallace purchased a second home in Tucson, Arizona where they spent their winters out of the Western New York cold until just recently when she sold that property to return "home" as she called Lewiston. While in Arizona, Barbara was the President of the Genealogy Club. She studied the ancestry of both the Stratiff family, as well as, the Moll family and wrote a book on each which she copied and shared with each of her children. As an active participant of several Bible studies, she was well educated in the Holy Bible. She often taught the classes. Her hobbies included painting (watercolor and oils), ceramics, gardening, and sewing. She was also a very good cook although it was not her favorite activity. One of her favorite days in Tucson was "Game Day" where several of the ladies from church would spend an afternoon playing card games. She had many, many friends in Arizona and missed them after she moved back to Lewiston. Barbara is survived by her children, Deborah Lexow (Paul), Chagrin Falls, OH; Sara Peterson (Craig), Pittsford, NY; Wallace Jr. (Angela), Carmel, IN; and Andrew (Johanna) Waller, TX plus 6 granddaughters and 2 grandsons, and 2 great grandsons. Also surviving are her brother Robert Stratiff, North Tonawanda, NY; sister-in-law Eleanor Moll, Niagara Falls, NY; sister-in-law Dolores Moll Silade, Connersville, IN; and brother-in-law, Robert Moll, Buffalo Grove, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Wallace V. Moll; brother-in law Norman Moll; sister-in-law Jeanette Stratiff; sister-in-law Marilyn Moll; and brother-in-law, Paul Silade.
