Obituary of Barbara A. Pratt

Pratt, Barbara Jane (Adams). Born in Niagara Falls, NY to Monieta A. Smith Adams and Charles Adams on April 30, 1926 and passed away at Elderwood on Grand Island on May 19, 2015. Barbara grew up in the city of Niagara Falls, and graduated from Stella Niagara. She met the love of her life (Eric W. Pratt) while they were both employed at Carborundum; they married on April 23, 1949 and established their home in Lewiston. She also worked for the Niagara County Girl Scouts for many years retiring in 1979. Barbara is survived by four children, Kristen Murray (Robert) of Hamlin, NY, John W. (Diane) of Monroe, NC, Barbara Gleason (Geoffrey) of Naples, FL, and Mary Jane Waz (Robert) of Grand Island, NY, one step son, Eric W. Pratt, Jr. of Coppell, TX, and a brother, William Adams (Geraldine) of Ennis, TX. Barbara was the grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Barbara enjoyed many friends, none as special, loving and devoted as her long time neighbor, Esther Sherman. She enjoyed lunching with friends, knitting, selecting yarn and patterns, reading, crossword puzzles, movies, visiting her family, watching English films and summer cottage living in Canada. Barb was a dedicated volunteer, delivering Meals on Wheels until her late '80's. Tiny notes and pictures of her grand and great-grandchildren gave her great joy. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Saturday, June 6, from 12 noon to 2:00 pm. A Memorial Service will begin in the funeral home at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Elizabeth Morgan of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston officiating. Burial will follow in Dickersonville Cemetery, Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to any Hospice or to Friends of History, 177 South First St., Fulton, NY 13069.
