Obituary of Richard A. O'Hara

Richard A. O'Hara, age 71 of Ransomville, died unexpectedly on Monday October 20, 2014 in the Eastern Niagara Hospital in Newfane. Richard was born April 28, 1943 in Boggs, PA, the son of the late Addison and Bettie (Vallimont) O'Hara and has lived in Ransomville the past 15 years. He was a Chemical Operator, employed by E.I. DuPont Co., in Niagara Falls, NY for 28 years retiring in the mid 1990's. While working at DuPont he also worked for Marv Wendt Drilling and after DuPont, he worked for Wendt Propane Service. Richard was a "jack of all trades" who was very helpful to everyone. He was an avid hunter and loved his two dogs, Lucy and Gypsy. He is survived by a son, Richard "Rick" (Judy) O'Hara of Ransomville; a daughter, Cynthia Robies of Niagara Falls, NY; his faithful companion, Patricia Bundy; five grandchildren, Matthew (Jamie) O'Hara, Jill (Billy) Coleman, Catherine Danielewicz, Eric O'Hara, and Taylar Danielewicz; two sisters, Judith (Eugene) Benuzzi of Port Charlotte, FL and Connie (James) Johnson of Mantiwalk, WI; and his former wife, Eileen Herstek. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Thursday, October 23, from 4 - 9 pm. Funeral Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wilson Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 609, 250 Young St., Wilson, NY 14172 or to the Ransomville Volunteer Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, PO Box 239, Ransomville, NY 14131.
