Obituary of Donald L. Cantara

Donald L. Cantara, age 77 of Lewiston, died Sunday December 6, 2009 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Residence in Lewiston, after a lengthy illness. Donald was born April 8, 1932 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late LeRoy and Evelyn H. (LeBar) Cantara and was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. He married Patricia G. (Moore) Cantara on September 29, 1956 and they moved to Lewiston in 1962. Donald served in the U.S. Naval Reserves from September 1949 to January of 1957 at which time he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served until August of 1958. Donald was honorably discharged with the rank of E-4 after serving a year in Germany. He was a Research Technician, employed by Washington Mills in Niagara Falls, NY for 36 years retiring in 1991. Donald enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as playing Domino's and BBQ's at his son's home. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; two sons, Mark Cantara of Lewiston and Paul Cantara of Miami Shores, FL; a brother in law, Theodore Dexter of Lewiston, and six nieces. He was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Ann Dexter. Graveside Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. There will be no prior visitation. Memorials may be made to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Ambulance Fund, 145 N. 6th St. P.O. Box 748, Lewiston, NY 14092.
