Obituary of Barbara L. Elmquest

Barbara L. Elmquest, age 83 of Lewiston, died Thursday July 22, 2010 in the Fairchild Manor Nursing Home in Lewiston, after a long illness. Barbara was born July 3, 1927 in Denver, Michigan, the daughter of the late Russell and Alta (Richardson) Norris. She received her degree as a Registered Nurse and had worked as a RN at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL for 2 years. She married Arthur D. Elmquest in 1948 and they had resided in Lewiston for many years. Arthur predeceased her on December 31, 2004. Barbara was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston where she had served as Reception Coordinator. She enjoyed playing golf in the Hyde Park Leagues in Niagara Falls and bowling at Frontier Lanes. She is survived by a son, Kurt Elmquest of East Aurora, NY; a daughter, Kirsten Bowie of Worster, OH; her grandchildren, Jimmy Rivera, Alex Elmquest, Jason and Katie Bowie; two brothers, Ivan (Mary Ellen) Norris of Hesperia, MI and Duane (Phyllis) Norris of Fremont, MI; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 31, at 2:00 PM in the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, 505 Cayuga St., Lewiston, with the Rev. Robert Bellingham officiating. There will be no prior visitation. Entombment will be in the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston Columbarium. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, 505 Cayuga St., Lewiston, NY 14092. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston.
